A journey through the world of empty bowls that are being filled — with food, light, sound, and with ourselves. A festive dinner that lasts a lifetime.
Bowls for feeding rabbits, camping mess kits, funeral urns, Tibetan bowls, or a tsukubai hand washing basin. A system nourished by strikes of a stick or through an algorithm. The sounds of the gamelan and Loretto bells accompany the stumbling journey of nameless heroes, trapped in the machinery of time, striving for impossible goals, freezing in the silent gestures of the astronomical clock.
In the project Third Hand, Handa Gote returns to puppet theatre drawing inspiration primarily from their own production of Sapphire Head, which was a reconstruction of a forgotten puppet project from the 1990s. Now, Handa Gote continues their quest for reconstruction, this time in a genre that perhaps was never a genre at all and probably didn’t even exist.
