V lese se sejdou čtyři zvířátka na pohřbu jejich kamaráda jelena. Ten umřel na AIDS. Tato zvířátka spolu strávila v lese mnohá spokojená léta.
Jelen zanechal před smrtí závěť, ve které si přál, aby jeho kamarádi zásadně změnili pohled na svět v tom, jak přistupují k ostatním i k sobě. Jelen se doznává, že byl nepřiznaný homosexuál a že ač navenek ostatní homosexuály utlačoval, tak s nimi měl zároveň potají poměr. Zvířátka se začínají pod tíhou emocí svěřovat se svými problémy.
